An hour later, I'm standing in front of a mirror when Jade comes up behind me and places the veil on top of my head. The veil is the same dark red color as my dress, and the train extends down around my waist, complimenting my hair perfectly. Knowing Abel prefers my hair down in some way, I had Sabastian keep it simple. My long hair is fixed in a beautiful fishtail braid that hangs down the center of my back, entwined with delicate white baby's breath. I kept my makeup light with a shimmery nude eyeshadow that makes my violet eyes pop, light pink blush, and red lipstick that matches my dress, the bold color a stark contrast against my pale skin.

Catching sight of Jade's reflection in the mirror, I notice the tears threatening to spill from her eyes. Turning, I face my friend. "If you start crying, then I'm going to start crying, and I don't want to ruin my makeup."

Jade blinks rapidly and starts to fan her face. "I can't help it. You're just so beautiful."

"Thank you. I almost can't believe this is me." I twist back around and take another look at myself. "I dreamt of this day so many times. I can't believe it's finally here and I am about to marry Abel. I can't tell you how many times I have pinched myself, thinking I would one day wake up to find this had all been a dream."

"This is not a dream, Luna. This is the life God has given you because you deserve it. You deserve a man like Abel, the wonderful family that has adopted you into their fold, and the little girl you and Abel are about to bring into the world. I mean it when I say there is not another person more deserving of this life than you, Luna."

Unable to hold back, I hug my best friend.

A minute later, Jade diverts her attention. "Someone is at the door," she tells me, and we break apart so she can answer it. My father is standing there looking dapper in a solid black suit with a black velour jacket when she opens the door.

"Wow, baby girl. You look stunning." My dad steps into the room; his reaction has me feeling like a princess. Taking my hand in his, he motions for me to twirl. "I have never seen such beauty in all my life. You're a vision, Luna."

I blush at my dad's compliment. "Thank you."

"I was hoping to have a word with you before the ceremony."

"Sure." I look at Jade.

"I'm going to see if anyone needs help with any last-minute details." Jade gives me one last smile before ducking out of the room.

I turn my attention back to my father. "Is everything okay?"

"Yes, of course. There was just something I wanted to give you." Reaching into his suit pocket, my dad pulls out a black velvet box. Holding it out in front of us, he opens it, and I gasp. Inside the box is an elegant pair of teardrop diamond earrings.
